Aromatherapy: Aromatherapy may be a holistic healing treatment that uses natural plant extracts to market health and well-being. Sometimes it's called essential oil therapy. Aromatherapy uses aromatic essential oils medicinally to enhance the health of the body, mind, and spirit.

It enhances both physical and emotional health. Aromatherapy may promote relaxation and help relieve stress. It has also been wont to help treat a good range of physical and mental conditions, including burns, infections, depression, insomnia, and high vital sign.
It is a pseudoscience supported the usage of aromatic materials, including essential oils, and other aroma compounds, with claims for improving psychological or physical well-being.

It is offered as a complementary therapy or as a sort of medicine, the primary meaning alongside standard treatments, the second rather than conventional, and evidence-based treatments. Aroma therapists, people who specialize in the practice of aromatherapy, utilize blends of supposedly therapeutic essential oils that can be used as topical application, massage, inhalation or water immersion. There is no good medical evidence that aromatherapy can either prevents, treat, or cure any disease. Placebo-controlled trials are difficult to style, because the point of aromatherapy is that the smell of the products. There is disputed evidence that it's going to be effective in combating postoperative nausea and vomiting.

The use of essential oils for therapeutic, spiritual, hygienic and ritualistic purposes goes back to ancient civilizations including the Chinese, Indians, Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans who used them in cosmetics, perfumes and drugs. Oils were used for aesthetic pleasure and within the beauty industry. They were a luxury item and a way of payment. It was believed the essential oils increased the time period of wine and improved the taste of food. Aromatherapy products, and essential oils, especially, could also be regulated differently counting on their intended use. A product that is marketed with a therapeutic use is regulated by the Food & Drug Administration (FDA); a product with a cosmetic use is not unless information shows that it is unsafe when consumers use it according to directions on the label, or in the customary or expected way, or if it is not labelled properly.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) regulates any aromatherapy advertising claims.
